The Melbourne bat box monitoring program is an opportunity for you to assist in important research on the use of bat boxes by a wide range of bat species. Join the team, even if you just want to pop along to see a critter you’ve never seen before.

​The Melbourne Mega Bat Count

Doveton and Yarra Bend
Fly-out count
 
Be part of the longest-running monitoring program of any bat colony in the world. There are now two monthly counts, which are held at Yarra Bend near Fairfield, and Doveton, approximately 45 minutes south-east of Melbourne

Tolga Bat Hospital Visitor Centre Tour
Daily, 3-6pm
134 Carrington Rd, Atherton
 
The Bat Hospital Visitor Centre is 6 kms outside Atherton in far north Queensland, about an hour inland from Cairns. Tours are conducted daily from 3-6pm and bookings are essential. Enter an upside down world and meet the real stars of the night, both big and small. We have Advanced Ecotourism accreditation and a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor.
