ABS Conference 2022 - Conference Venue

Brisbane (Meeanjin) is a bustling city of nearly 2.3m people, and the largest of Australia’s capital cities by geographic area. The city is located in the south-east of Australia’s sunshine state - Queensland. Brisbane is well serviced by a large domestic and international airport providing good connections across Australia and the world. The city also has an excellent transport infrastructure composed of trains, buses, and river ferries.

The conference is being held at Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) Gardens Point campus (see link below for a campus map) in the centre of the city, and immediately adjacent to the Brisbane River and botanical gardens. Parking on campus is very limited (so don’t even try), but the campus is well serviced by buses and has its own CityCat (ferry stop). It is walking distance from most city hotels as well as hotels at South Bank, immediately across the river from QUT via the Goodwill or Victoria Bridges. The campus is surrounded by hotels offering a range of accommodation.
The venue for the conference will be QUT’s Room360, atop one of QUT’s tallest buildings. The room has amazing views over Brisbane and is easily accessible by all. The room is large enough to host poster sessions, morning and afternoon teas, and for conference sponsors and partners to show off their latest and greatest bat gear. Our conference dinner will be held in the Foyer of Gardens Theatre, next door to Room360. It will include a trivia quiz and auction to raise money to support attendance at future conferences.
