The Australasian Bat Society is inviting members to our Ghost Bat Blitz at Pine Creek in the Northern Territory from the 12-18 May 2023. During this time, the Society will also host its Financial Annual General Meeting (FAGM) on the 14th May 2023.
​The Ghost Bat Blitz will take place in the Pine Creek region of the Northern Territory and will include an exciting field program of acoustic and video monitoring of fly-outs from current and historical Ghost Bat roosts, and harp trapping/mist netting to collect reference calls from as many as 20 echolocating bat species that potentially occur in the area.

​The Australasian Bat Society’s FAGM will be held in conjunction with the Ghost Bat Blitz on Sunday 14 May. Members not attending the Bat Blitz will be able to join the FAGM via video conference at no cost.

Registration

Registration for the Ghost Bat Blitz (including ABS FAGM) is now open. Registration includes accommodation in Pine Creek and breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the duration of the field trip. Attendees will be responsible for organising their own flights, 4x4 vehicles and fuel. Those who are unable to attend for the full duration of the field trip are encouraged to contact the organising committee to discuss options.

Ghost Bat Workshop

After the Ghost Bat blitz, a workshop to inform recovery planning for the Ghost Bat will be held in Darwin on Friday 19 May. Workshop attendees will include stakeholders with relevant knowledge, experience and expertise of Ghost Bats.
